This photo of a California Ground Squirrel was taken over two years ago near the beach at Corona del Mar, CA, and in JPG mode -- before I began using RAW. (I see that Chris Hansen submitted an image of the same species earlier.) These little rascals are numerous in the area, but I have never gone back to that location to take more (and hopefully better) pictures. In fact, the few I got that day are my only pictures of ground squirrels. This exercise has made me vow to remedy that soon.

HI Wendell - intresting pose - looks like you had some harsh light and also from the side which hasn't helped.
    keep em coming.

    Hi Wendell,
I like the capture and cool pose...this is too cool...:D It's a shame about the harsh sun light; also the little guy seems to be a wee bit over sharpened...looking forward to your next one...

    Wendell,

For some reason the GS always make me laugh, such little dirt balls (believe me greys can look that way too) and that they need to finish molt:-)

Harsh light and all cute as can be

Great pose Wendell! Light is just as bit harsh as noted.

Alfred, never considered that! And you may be right, since the rascal may have known more about photography then than I did . . .
