It was an over cast day when I took this picture and he came out of no were, seat on that log looked at me, scratched under his arm and then took off. I just happen to be out taken pictures of some birds, when he showed up. I was hopping to get more then one picture of him but I glad I got the one.

    Hi Michelle,
I like the composition and capture...the little fellow is placed just right in frame with a good head angle and eye contact...there is something wrong with the exif data that you posted...if you had overcast sky's, and you were shooting at -1EV the background should not be as light as it is; perhaps you were on the +side of the compensation scale...also, were your your settings on manual or aperture...you state manual, but on manual mode there is no EV compensation...you would move your dials to adjust the shutter speed? looking forward to your next one...

    Hi Michelle

It is a killer pose and great framing !!!

Agree with Gus on the metering. The image is over exposed, check histogram. If you had the camera set for bif then turned to the squirrel .. would have been over. Manually set for bif would have been metered on the sky about two over (maybe more).

Good to go over these images to figure out what happen, will cut down in the future. Also this illustrates the necessity of getting the exposure right the first time .... sometimes there is no second time.

Thank you for C&C's. I will go back and look at the info, and give you an update. I had three pictures up on my computer screen last night, might have read the wrong info. Also I was having problems with the D3 reading the info and the camera shutting done while taking a picture. I had to send it back to Nikon. I think I'm still having problems. Thank you all your input. It has really helped me out.

Hi Michelle Let me know what they say about the camera, I'm sure they will take care. Not aware of a similar problem.

    Hi Alfred,

I will, this the second time I have had to send it to them, I have for weeks been trying to do the firmware update, and it kept telling me that this is a gray camera, I finally got someone from Nikon support to figure out the problem. Got the update last night and I'm still having issues. Hopefully they can fix it. I'll let you know.

    Thanks Michelle
