    Default An old friend... (moose)

Moose have long been my favorite subject to photograph, and one of my favorite animals in general. Some friends think my time spent photographing them is alittle overkill, and maybe that is so in that I can usually recognize certain moose from year to year. This is one of them, and one I call an 'old friend'. This image was made this past summer in the Wasatch Mountains here in northern Utah after the sun had dropped below the mountain peaks and this big boy and I were just hanging out...

Beautiful image John! I like the light, the background, the composition and the relaxed look on this guy.

    John,
Sharpness is good at 1/50. Well diffused bg. Good eye contact. The open mouth is interesting. It is saying something to you? :-)

    Cheers,

Very nice work, John. I like the pose, open mouth, and the cooler color temp looks like a well exposed image in the shade as you mentioned. I'm with you-I'm pretty excited when I can get to know individual animals that I am reasonably sure can recognize me as a non threatening entity, thus allowing closer observations.

One of your better ones. Good light and great pose, love the head turn and eye contact. Nice looking rack too.

Nice image John. I like the simplicity of this and the way the line of FG grasses parallels the head. The cool tone matches the habitat you described nicely. I've built a folder of head shots of the Mule Deer I photograph in hopes of matching up antler sheds with particular deer. I'm starting to see a lot of the same old faces :)
