I found this Helmeted Guineafowl in the early morning in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. They are normally quite active, move around a lot, and are therefore fairly frustrating to photograph. The image can, of course, be cropped vertically but I prefer it with some of the natural background. . . .

    Camera: Canon 1DS MkII.
Lens: Canon EF 70-200 mm 1:2.8 L at 200 mm.
    1.320 sec, f4, ISO 100.

Beautiful plumage and light. I don't think I have seen this species before. Thanks for sharing. The bird seems a bit too centered, you could either crop a bit off the right or add some space on the left.

These are lovely birds - this is a nice mature adult with a good sized casque and well coloured wattles. They can be a bit of a challenge as they dash around madly. Lovely morning light and I like the pose. I agree with Axel on the slight crop from the right. The image looks a little soft to me.

Lovely bird here David. Cropping has been mentioned but I might wish for a touch more space above the head.

Lovely light and pose, and I don't mind the natural habitat. I agree with the composition comments. Nice capture of a beautiful bird.

Love the pose! This is a great capture for a bird that is typically difficult to capture.
