    First post here for a long while, thought I'd better pay up.
    I spent a couple of hours on my tummy next to one of the ponds at a local waste water treatment plant.
    I've added some canvas to the front as the bird came too close and filled the entire frame (just past where the mud starts to get darker in front of the bird).

    canon1D2n with 500/f4 and 1.4X

    ISO 400 f8 1/1250 exp comp -1/3 on bean bag

    Nice one Rob. Love the pose with the tail cocked up like that. Would have liked a little more head turn. Well done.

    Rob...Beautiful image of an interesting subject. I like the upward position of the tail also. I would add a bit more canvas on the left....

    Very, very nice! Another vote for adding canvas to the left, just a little. This is a very sharp image, I actually can't decide if it is "too" sharp, it's right on the edge which is a good thing I guess:)

    Lovely sharp image. The direction of the bird's gaze suggests that it is concentrating on Crake business and not on you. So instead of the image being about you and the Crake, it is just about the Crake. "Head turn" - yawn.
