Welcome to BPN! Beautiful specimen and BG. I wish for more direct eye contact and it might work as vertical crop, too. I might try to tone down the whites on the chest a little.

Beautiful image of this redheaded woodpecker but I agree a vertical crop would work well here. More of a head turn would be ideal but you did well and got a nice catchlight. Would like to have this in my files !! thanks for sharing ,

Thank You Very Much Alex and Judy I very much Appreciate and respect your Comments.

The Landscape Crop was chosen over the Portrait as that is direction of Escape and it gives a little different View.

The Look Away is becoming a alternatve to the look at the camera pose.

Thank You again and I hope to Bring more to the Group!!:)

Gary welcome to BPN. (I see that you've taken your glasses off. ;))

Lovely image here and I wish that it was in my collection. I've only got a couple of juvenile shots of this species. I like the BG colour in this shot.

Thanks Stephen the Avitar is My grandson, We had a good hatch this year but you have to go into the Swamps to find them as they don't like populated areas.

Great to be Here and I hope I can enjoy and share some interesting Images.

Nice shot Gary - love the background and colours. Nice to have a catchlight and the looking away doesn't bother me too much as you can see the textures and colours of the back which we would lose with a frontal shot. Maybe looking over left rather than right shoulder but would then lose a lot of that lovely background.
