What faults you are referring to?

Desmond - I am always super critical of my own work - have to say I am yet to take a shot that I am 100% happy with.

This may not be an award winning photo, or one of those "Just Plain Beautiful" photo, but it is well executed as far as I can tell. White not neutral enough, details not enough, etc.? I think could be "fixed". Light not ideal, not as good as some of yours previously posted? Perhaps. But, as a photo, I don't see why it needs to go to the garbage. If it were mine, I'll keep it as a record, as part of a history, a moment in my photography life.

    Lance,
I would consign it to the trash unless you feel you could overcome lack of detail in the face and the wings in PP. The wings seem a little too white for my tastes. I would also like to see a better head angle if possible. Probably a tough call as it probably took a lot of work to get a shot like this.

    God's light to you,

    Chris

I would be prepared to keep the overblown image with lack of facial detail if there was sufficient in the pose to make it a keeper for future reference, but the pose doesn't impress me. A bit more of the left wing would have balanced the image and made this a keeper.
If it were mine I'd give it the flick.

We feel that this image has a nicely balanced composition with lovely clear background would definitely keep it, the only thing it needs is a bit of shadow and highlight adjustment and a little sharpening.
would love to see the same image with better post processing.

Mirror mirror on the wall; what are the critical compositional, and image faults...:D
Mr. Peters...I can understand your concerns about the impeccable finished master piece...I look at myself in the mirror every single day too...:) Sir, my only suggestion would be to open up the area around the eyes and selective sharpen...I like the composition and capture...I like the soft, pale blue background which showcases your subject very nicely...your whites are within range, and you captured the moment, telling the story...congrats...looking forward to more...

P.S. The mirror is telling you to keep it...

i'd keep it just because i like the pose and the bg and it's a baby bird that most people always find cute. some flash would have definitely helped give it a little pop in that flat light and would have opened up the shadows a bit.

I understand your skepticism with keeping this shot. The only problem here is the eyes. You may not be able to do what needs to be done in PS with them now, but at some point in the future, you will have the tools you need to make the picture what you envision or at least close to it.

    I say "keeper."
