I caught this small egret in a non used farming trench and was low down shooting. I know the legs are missing but liked the look of this young guy or gal sizing me up.

Nice capture Bill. Exposure is good. It'd be nice if the head were turned a little more. Also, I think there is too much out of focus foreground; my eye is drawn to it. Perhaps if you cropped a little off of the bottom.

I like the composition and pose since it leaves room for the 'virtual' body and legs. It could go a bit brighter for my taste, particularly the BG looks almost black where I would expect dark green on my monitor.

Some shots don't need to have room for the virtual legs, and this is one of them. I'd go the Doug route and crop off maybe half the OOF portion. Perfect exposure, and the stare is quite intense.

Really like they eye contact in this image and excellent exposure. I agree crooping the OOF would strengthen this capture and lighteening up the BG a little. Thanks for sharing Bill !!

    Hi Bill,

This works for me very well. The only thing would be to run the image with any NR software to help the BG.
