I took this shot while laying flat in the grass and waving a feather to catch his attention..
The owl looked at me as if to say "whats up'..

    Dennis,

The pose is unique and amazing. I love it. Nice and sharpened well, and I enjoy the rich colors also.

    Keep more coming.

Great capture Dennis, excellent composition and angle. Love the eye contact and pose. My only nit is that is too centered in the frame, maybe a little more room to the right.

    Hi Dennis,
I like the composition, capture and pose...I like the unconventional head turn...a few points to consider...your light was coming at an angle, thats the reason why the little guy is half in the light side and the other side has the shadows...I would open up the eyes by lightening them up a tad and adjusting the mid-tones on the owl...also would desaturate the greens a little bit. the bird placement in the center works here...I like it...looking forward to your next capture...

P.S. you can also post at a higher resolution...

    Hi Dennis

Would love seeing this a little larger tough to evaluate !!!

Do like the pose and sweet low angle Agree with Oscar on moving out of the center, would give more room on the right !!! I like it a lot !!!

    Hi Gus
Thanks for the input...I seem to be having trouble with sizing and resolution to fit the bpn format...I am not really too good with photoshop ..
I really liked all the responses from everyone...It helps me to see with different eyes what I have missed and get ideas how to improve my images..
    thanks everyone

Hi Dennis - I like the pose and the eye contact - all good suggestions above...

here is a link on how to size for bpn - http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=15654

I made a couple of quick changes - bit hard when its on the small side.

Lightened the shadows about - tried to even out the eyes a little - desat the greens a little.

    Gives you the idea anyway.

    Looking forward to more :)

    Dennis,

I love the composition and the quizzical look of the owl. My only suggestion would be to crop just a little more of the OOF grass off of the bottom. Cool image!

    God bless,

    Hi Lance
thanks for the link...I did not have trouble with my first post I was lucky but this owl gave me alot problems with the resize and resolution...Maybe user error....I'll reread the resize link again..
I am not sure where I should start with my raw images...I first download my raw images into Nikon capture NX for the initial color then send to PS as a jpeg for size and sharpening and crop...When I try to resize I am not sure if I should first change the resolution from 300 or try to change the image size itself...Maybe thats where I am going wrong...
    thanks
    Denny

hi dennis, love the pose! nice image! one thing to consider is that i think the sharpening in capture nx is a little better than the one in photoshop, unless you have one of the nicer plugins for it. i know the noise reduction is better in NX. you can also batch convert with NX and resize and sharpen for web with NX very easily!

workflow for me is: open RAW in Capture NX2. level horizon if needed. crop if needed. set black and white point, curves or brightness and contrast adjustment if needed, color adjustments, noise reduction, and lastly sharpen. you can then batch convert it to jpeg and then resize and then final sharpen for web. photoshop is great for doing major surgery for your image.

if you need any help with CNX, let me know and i'll do what i can.
