A Western Gray Squirrel on a branch in the feeder area of my backyard. Lighting conditions were heavily overcast with light rain.

    1/60 Second @ f8.0 Yes I know thats slow
550 EX Flash fired with no exposure comp
Ground pod with Bogen 3055 Ballhead clamped to my ofice windowsill

I really worked on sharpening this one. hopefully I didn't over do it.

    All CC appreciated.

    Hi Chris,
I like the composition and capture...but the little guy is way too sharp.even the eye looks very glassy...it looks like he has hair spray on his fur...:cool:

Hi Chris One sweet image !! love the perch, bg, soft light and pose. Great feel !!

Tech wise might have traded aperture for shutter speed, get nervous at those slow speeds. Sharpening wise I thing the fur texture requires less? Would make a layer and go after the head area only !! Really nice !!

    Chris,

Cute lil' guy. Nice pose. The mossy green stump seems to overpower the squirrel a little though. With the gray squirrel and gray BG, the green jumps out at you...maybe toning the greens down a little would be helpful.

    Thanks Guys,
Looks like I'll just have to keep working on the sharpening thing. I usually never seem to have enough and this time I went overboard! Yes, the greens could be toned down a bit. I guess i will give it a go tomorrow with another California Ground Squirrel from last week at McKerricher State park.

    God's light to all,

    chris

Chris I love the colors and how the grey squirrel stands out from the grey BG.

    Everything else covered.
