Default The nest building is in full swing

Hi all. I was at Merritt Island the last couple of days and found this nest right before the bridge going over to merritt island. She was quite busy while the male was feasting on a fish just about 20 ft from the nest. She was squacking up a storm to him but he never stopped eating or paid any mind to her, the bugger :p:D. This image was taken with the D300 and Nikon 70-300 VR lens, f8, 1/2500, iso 500

Excellent image Nancy...I like the activity and the placement of the subject. Wingspread and sharpness are fine! There is a little detail under the wing and I'm wondering if there was more prior to posting?

Thanks Dave. I was not sure about the crop but decided on this. I did lighten up the part you are talking about during post.

Some folks might disagree but I would have cropped it similarly...

Hi Nancy, I like this shot alot...she looks like she's hauling half a tree! I would be one of those folks Dave referred to above about the crop...I would have tried to keep the bird's eye out of the dead centre of the frame...but I can easily see how you would want to crop the way you did. I like the exposure and the wings up position. Her head looks like it could be a tad sharper.

    Typical male!

    Cheers!

Thanks Bruce! I tried a vertical crop and just could not get it to work. And, putting more space on the left just looked like too much space, so that was my thought process. But, all suggestions appreciated.

Excellent shot as far as timing is concerned ,we think that it would look even better if a little space on the left and bottom of the bird is increased.
