Hi, I was inspired by Axel's series of small birds on snow...while this is definitely not one of those less often seen species, it is nevertheless, one of the winter species I had to choose from...

Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon race, pale adult)

    Canon 40D with 1-400 L, ISO 200, 1/500s, f/5.6, EV +1 1/3

I like the position of both the feet and the head, the detail and the faint shadow in the snow

Comments and critique are welcome as always. Thanks for looking!

I think it looks very good and different. I know it is snow, but I find it hard to see anything but the bird, which is probably a good thing. It would be great to have had some uneven surface and some slight shadows to give the snow some more appeal. It makes me feel cold just looking at those tiny feet in the snow. Brrrr. :)

    Well done! :)

Very nice pose. Diagonals are strong compositonal elements and you made good use of them here. The diagonal lines of the head, feet and, to a lesser extent, the tail are what make this pose pleasing.
