    Default Red Fox

I wasn't sure about posting for the first time but I thought it would be a waste of the talent here not to, so here goes.

This shot is of a Red Fox, taken Jan17th at the Muskoka Wildlife Centre just north of Orillia, Ontario, Canada (about 100 miles due north of Toronto). It was about 11am and -20C or about -4F, a relatively bright day but bitterly cold with the wind chill. I was having a bit of a hard time with the snow which was why I elected to go with spot metering and then using the burn tool to bring it back a bit. Thoughts?

    Camera: Canon 50D
    Lense: Canon 70-200 f4
manual exposure, spot metered, 1/400, f7.1, ISO400, focal length of 200mm

    Hi Malcolm,
Welcome to the BPN family...I like your composition and capture...It does look cold I like the color rendition of your fox and the direct in your face eye contact...the snow is still a tad on the hot side on the right hand side of the frame...suggestions: I would selective sharpen the fox's eyes, they appear to be a little soft and would eliminate the two branches that are hanging on the upper left side of your frame...aside from this, you did well...I like it...looking forward to your next capture...

    Big Warm Welcome Malcolm

Agree with Gus very good suggestions. One thing that looks out of place is the snow, seems to have a cast Just color balanced (no other enhancement) and posted.

Hi Malcom - welcome to BPN. Gus has the techs covered and AL has the colour balance, I would also sharpen his eyes a tad - Nice shot.

    Looking forward to more :)

Welcome Malcolm. Glad you posted and nice post as well. Good comments also. I've learned quite a bit from posting myself, so enjoy the ride, and remember at the end of the day you're still in charge of applying which comments make the most sense to you.

    Look forward in seeing more.
