I am always struggling with these type of images where there is plenty of flora (environment) around the subject. Green herons are frequently hunting at the water line in the midst of reeds and stems from surrounding vegetation. This image was created a while back in early morning while the sun was behind a cloud on the horizon. Not having to worry about the light angle (no flash), I chose this position because of the way the foreground leaves framed this beauty. Too cluttered? As always comments and learnings always welcome!

I like the pose and details and don't find the BG too busy. The leaves in the foreground are distracting, though, I would have liked to see the legs. The plumage looks somewhat blueish, I might raise the color temperature and/or desaturate the blues a few points.
