    Post processed with Capture NX2

The raw image resided in my pictures folder for over a year. Just got around to experimenting with post processing. I find the process daunting to say the least. Looking forward to any comments.

Hi Dave Nothing difficult about the post processing Just post a few and will guide you !!

Here image wise you want to keep the bird off the center, normally we place them toward one of the corners. Lower left would be good. Divide the image in thirds and place in on of the four intersecting points. You did make a good exposure and the bird is well lit. Might want to make sure focus is on the head area.

Processing wise its not bad at all, do a solid image and takes very little work. Could select the head area and sharpen a little. Looking forward to more !!!

    Hi Dave,
Very good advise given by Mr. Forns,
I like the capture...you have good sharp details and good color rendition with a good head angle and sharp eye...I also like the habitat, and the fact that you got him out in the clear...looking forward to your next one...

Hi Dave - al and Gus have it covered - main thing for me would be moving him out of the centre.

    looking forward to more :)

Thanks. I do understand the rule of thirds but I got it into my head that images of small birds need to be full frame images. I cropped the original slightly to achieve the result you observed in the first post. Here is the uncropped image but I think you will see only a minor improvement as the subject is just slightly to the left. Let me know.

Again, thanks to Lance, Gus, and Alfred.
