    Ken,
Lovely. I like the composition. The open mouth adds interest, so also the reflection. The still water has given you a nice reflection. One more step and that reflection would have been destroyed. Sharpness is good. I would crop from the top to eliminate that dark spot. I would have liked a bit more space at the bottom for the reflection. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Thanks for the input, I am never sure how to crop. Here is a repost with very little cropping and the brown spot eliminated, I did not even notice it. Is it better or could it do with less space?

Ken, I really like the comp on the repost. The reflection doesn't look at all crowded here. And I love the swish of the tail! I see you had a great trip to Kwando. The number and frequency of your wild dog encounters is thrilling!

    John,

Thanks for that, we have been really lucky with Wild Dog sightings this year in particular at Lagoon Camp in Kwando, but to be fair we did not see them for many visits. But I think the guide and tracker we have there now are used to us and really go out of their way to try their best to find the dogs and cheetahs.

I like this a lot, Ken. The pose is very interesting and the reflection puts it over the top. I was about to suggest a vertical crop, but then I saw your repost. Even so, you might experiment with taking more off the top and a little off the right. You might also try increasing the contrast to see if that is an improvement. I'm noticing some repeating patterns (cloning marks?) to the left and above the hyena's shoulder. Quick masking would take care of those.

Adding Steve's remarks to the others and the repost and that covers it for me. Nice pose and reflection.

    Steve,
Thanks for pointing out the patterns. Now you have pointed them out I can see them as well, they came from extending the left of the canvas with a QM. I will return to this as soon as I have revisited the Two Cheetahs!

    Hi Ken,
Don't have much to add to the above critiques. Repost looks good. Regarding your comment about cropping, this idea popped out as another option. I don't suggest it as a preferred crop but just as another idea from someone who likes to play around with his images when he doesn't have anything new.

    Steve,

I have to admit that this works very well.

One final repost hopefully taking into account everybody's good advice.

I have another Hyena from the same time which I will post in a couple of days, because I have a Cheetah portrait that I wish to share.

    Once again thanks to everybody.

Just noticed that I seem to have lost some sharpness in conversion, please pretend it is as sharp as my original post!
