    This image is 90% full frame on the horizontal. The D300 holds focus even after the bird drops into the white BG.

    D300, 500 f4, manual exposure, 1/2500, f5.6, iso400, baited, hand-held

    Nice picture with the talons deployed and eyes focused on the target.

    I'm wondering where the bait is in this image. Was it cloned out, or is it just out of the frame? It looks like the owl is ready to grab it, but it isn't there.

    The pose and details are great. I'm interested, too what the owl is aiming at. Since the snow is sunlit I'm wondering why it looks so blue.

    Thanks, guys! The bait has been cloned out, but i figured it was acceptable on the premise that the hypothetical prey is beneath the snow. The snow tends to look blue near the end of the day when the sun is at your back.
