    Default Big Squirrel?

well ok, not a squirrel for the week, but four-legged none the less. this was actually a grab shot while out scouting some new locations for birds. i saw the scene and slammed on brakes and ran over to the side of the fence. this guy actually got too close! i had the bigma on at 50mm and it was almost too much when he came over to check me out.

a pseudo-HDR. i took the image and duplicated it twice. processed one to +2 and the other to -2. took it into Photomatix Pro and made the HDR. i really had to play with the settings to get some shadow detail in the face, but the trial and error really paid off i think.

    D300, bigma at 50mm, f/5.6, 1/80s, -0.3EV, ISO 400.

thanks for looking and comments and critiques are appreciated.

I think its lovely Mr H! I'm quite fond of horses too;)

I think the tree in the Bg also with the sort of misty feel is just super

Hi Harold...I like the mood and comp of the image. That tree in the backround helps alot and fills the void with something of interest. As you stated he was getting a bit close so I would have liked to have seen more room on the bottom but that is easily done. Good eye on this one!!

Hi Harold Proud of you for stopping and going after this one !!!

Love the mood and feel Would move the tree slightly to the right and have the horse smaller in frame ( I know he didn't cooperate :) ) Also altering the perspective of his back to horizon !! I like it a lot !!!

Very nice photo, Harold! Beautiful light and I love the misty feel. I would like to see the tree a little more to the right and a little more room at the bottom.

Great photo Harold. love the compo and the mist. Might like to see a bit more FG beneath the horses legs (if you have any) and just wondering if it is my eyes or is it a bit noisy??

    Harold,

This image looks nice, warm and pleasantly soft, which has a dreamy feel to it. I like it.
It's amazing what you can find along the path to your shooting destination.

    Harold,

i really think you should have worked on bringing out more detail in the legs, head and the tail. I reworked the image to show that. ;)
