Over time, I never did purchase any of the portable backup/storage/viewing devices like the Epson P-2000. For many day or overnight trips, I rarely bring a laptop. With constantly changing technology, it seems many people even use their iPod Touches, iPhones, and cell phones to store some images. I'm now reading about Netbooks, the $300-to $400 small and basic notebook PCs with ratcheted down features from a typical notebook. The netbook of course could be used for e-mail and interenet access while traveling as well.
For the low price, although certainly not as portable, is anyone using a netbook as their primary take everywhere backup and viewing device? (not instead of a full notebook PC which is logical but instead of the portable storage/viewer devices?)

Jeff,
I recently purchased an Asus Eee PC with 160 GB hard drive, 3.2 pounds, LED backlit display with ~7 hour battery life. This is really a full PC. $384 on amazon! Unless you want lower weight and size, the epson devices (I have a P5000) are history. The downside is the display native resolution is 1024 x 600 pixels, which is too small for bridge and other software to load. I had to declare 1024x768 and then you must scroll the display. Perhaps a newer/different model will have a larger display. Otherwise, an incredible price and great performance. We took it to Africa and it performed great as a backup device and reviewing images.
I have heard there is a 1TB storage device stand alone in the works. It's battery operated and ideal for traveling to remote regions. Has anyone heard this?
