This image was taken during a sudden downpour on a otherwise extremely hot day - the white dashes in the BG are the rain pushed by a gale force wind, rain was very heavy for about 3 minutes and then it was gone - seemed to be a welcome reprieve from the heat for this little guy.

Note: This image is a straight RAW file, converted to jpeg format...Nothing was done to it...

Assignment: Work this image, making the corrections and enhancements necessary; using the post processing needed. List all the steps taken to polish the final product...

Terrific shot and a very good one to work on, I has a very good time doing it.
    What I did was:

    1-Crop to recompose.
2-Tone down the whites on the adult bird a bit.
    3-Gave some Saturation.
4-Darkened the sky to achieve more contrast beteween the BG and the birds. (Juan Aragonés´ tip)
    4-Sharpened the whole image.
    5-Noise reduction.

I´ve also work on the adult´s eye with levels.

    Hope you like it.

Very nice image Lance and I really like the impact of Ramon's repost. I also like the interaction between the chick and parent, the low angle and the details.
