    Linda,

Very nice crisp shot. My only suggestion is to darken the image just a tad, which may bring a little more details in the feathers.

Hi Linda - Like the pose and the head angle - eye is nice and sharp as well.

Whites are not over - but they do appear to be lacking in detail at least on my screen - I would select the bird and create a multiply layer and see if you can get some detail back into those whites.

A lower shooting angle would also improve.
Looking forward to the next one :)

    HI Linda,
I like the capture and the ripples in the water...the head angle and eye contact are good...the whites on the bird are lacking details due to the fact that its pushing the 255 mark...a few points to consider...I would add some canvas to the left side of the frame to give him more room to walk into...also would tone down the whites and the background just a tad...I modified your composition to illustrate this point...see if this presents best to you...

Gus I like the re post very much and would even take it further into an DC type image As a straight image not so sure.

Tech wise I would lower the ISO since you got plenty of shutter speed. Didn't see the flash compensation but could have something to do with white reproduction. Remember you can take two fast back to back exposures so the second has less output and you can choose later (not time for flash to recharge fully).

Recovering detail the only suggestion I have is a double conversion. Linear/normal One light one dark and stack together.

    what is DC? thanks!

i like the image and and totally agree with gus' points. i think the RAW capture has the ability to bring out some more detail in the bird and a darker bg will help it pop!
