    Another ground squirrel. Love this thread! Captured this guy several years ago at Red Rock Canyon. No cropping here, presented as captured.

    Canon PowerShot S2 IS, 6-72mm lens @ 72mm
    Program AE, f/4@1/500 ISO 50 (!) EC 0
    Evaluative metering, auto WB, no flash

    Kerry, this is a very nice up close and in your face type of pose...:D I like it very much...the details are nice and sharp; the color rendition is dead on, with a good head angle and sharp eye contact. My only suggestion would be to clone out the brownish yellowish diagonal flange on the back of your subject...congrats...looking forward to your next one...:cool:

    Thanks Gus. When I looked at that feature in the background I wanted to clone it out, but then I saw the little hairs and got cold feet. Would something like Fluid Mask be able to deal with that?

    Default ID clarification

    I believe that this little one is a White-tailed Antelope Squirrel. Very similar to the Golden-manteled, but without the coppery head. Also notice that the ears are quite short. We have both of these rascals in my neck of the woods.
