Great shot John, I particularly like the backlit insect and the lichen. A pity there is not more light on the eye. Where was it taken?
Great capture, John. The insect adds to it. If you have, I would give it a bit more room top and right. Too bad the sun was not behind you.
I would have liked to see it with out the fill flash. That effect would have been dramatic. With the fill flash the image looks very flat.

Nice catch! I know you can't have it both ways, but I really like the back light on the bug, not so much on the bird.
A little boost to the shadows and a curves adjustment might help the eclipsed side of the bird stand out a little more.
You did very well given the lighting conditions.
