I have taken this image against the sun and had forgotten to set a 1, 1 1/3 overexpose. So I have to deal with strong dark image with almost no visible details under the wings.

PP: levels, S/H, UM, 3% contrast, 15% saturation, NR software.

You caught the action here Nikolay, nicw and sharp and wings in good position. As you point out the bird suffers from underexposure - did you try shadow/highlight control in PS?

This could have been a really good image but for the under exposure. I like the pose and you certainly kept it sharp. Better luck next time,Nikolay.

Nicolay I like this image, even with a steep angle. I've taken the liberty of adjusting gamma correction and contrast to improve the feather details. What do you think?

Great pose captured. I think Stephen's repost shows that it can be improved in postprocessing.

thanks for the suggestions to all of you :)
Stephen will you please tell me what exactly you've made to improve the image?
I will then try with the new values to fix the image tonight at home.

Hello Nikolay. I made the adjustments using a Freeware program called IrFanview but you can do the same thing in Photoshop. I adjusted Contrast by -20 and Increased Gamma Correction by about the same amount (increased from default of 1.0 to 1.20)

    Step One
    1. Open image and reduce your contrast level in the shot to what looks good. Choose Image, Adjust, Brightness/Contrast
    Step Two
    1. Choose Image, Adjust, Levels. You will then see the Levels box.
    2. Under the histogram there are three sliders which correspond to the three input levels above the histogram. The Gamma Correction is the middle one and is usually defaulted to 1.0
    3. Move the middle slider to brighten or darken the image. You may have to adjust the other two sliders afterwards.

I'm sure the there's an easier way to do this but I'm not very good with Photoshop.

    Good luck

    Stephen
