Colors, exposure, sharpness and other technical stuff, all good as usual so not going to spend time on them (like I just did). I think I prefer to see more of the birds that were on the ground, such as more of their bodies, the legs.

I don't have problem with the presence of cutoff birds at the edges since it gives a better impression of the humongous number of birds that were in front of your camera. If you can see the edges of the sky, how big the sky do you think it is? Bigger than the one the edges you can't see? :)

BTW, did you finally get yourself a 200-400?

Never mind. Not about the sky in your photo. Your sky is fine and beautiful.

Guess I'd better go to bed now before I speak crazy things again :o

Lance, I like it. I think its more of a scene shot-Would probably like it better if main bird wasn't centered-but sounds like it wasn't possible-like the colors alot!

Gus - happy to take you any day my friend :)

Nesting season is December to March. It is truly a magical place, even just to have the opportunity to observe as they go about thier lives is something quite special.

Between here and the Western Treatment Plant (10,000 HA of water treatment plant) I am sure we could find enough to keep us occupied for more than a few days :)

Lance - I think this is a classic Gannet image very well executed.
Just exploring a bit:I am wondering if the core of this image isn't the flying bird and the group of birds immediately below it that appear to be reacting to the flier, especially the bird on the right with the almost upright beak? If that is the dynamic subject here, then we lose something because those birds are cutoff along the bottom. I'm thinking about this because that's where my eye goes to. But maybe that's another image and it was in the offing here.

I don't mind the mostly oof birds on the edge, but in focus beaks without bodies bother me. There is one on the left and one on the right that I'd clone.

    Lovely image and lovely colors
    Cheers
