    Default Salty

This is a saltwater crocodile from Yellow Water, in Kakadu NP Australia. it was sitting in the shade and unfortunately i didnt have my flash on me at that point, which was most annoying because she was backlit. anyway, i liked the teeth and the eye contact, but i didnt like the grasses on her jaws and it could be sharper focus. Any comments appreciated.
Eos 5D, f 5.6, ISO 125, 1/40sec and 400mm. Cropped to panorama to exclude the mud bank on the top and bottom of frame.

What an interesting set of teeth! You had difficult light to work with, as presented, I would burn the highlights pn top of the image because they can distract from your subject, and also the top of his face that's hit by the sun could use some of the burn tool.
    Thanks for sharing this one!

My first suggestion is ....raise the ISO !!!!!!!!!! You got a great performing camera take advantage. At 1/40 and 400 mm is tough making razor sharp images !!!

Not sure if you had any chance to move a bit? A closer shot of the mouth are only would have been interesting. Neat looking teeth !!!

thanks for the comments- that pic was taken from a boat that pulled up alongside her, plus with crocodiles you dont really want to get too close ;)

    Dejan,

Certainly a good subject with those teeth and I like the blue cast of the gator. To help the high contrast, reduce it using a reverse s-curve (info here http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=20434).

You can also use shadows/highlights to open up the shadows and bring down the highlights (info here http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=20434).

Thanks for posting and keep them coming.
