    Default Ivory Gull no. 3

A fully-body portrait of this great bird from Sambro, Nova Scotia, is offered. I like the various colours of white rendered by different levels of shadow and reflection of the setting sun.

    Comments appreciated of course.

I like everything about this John...and the light is absolutely spectacular.

You can never do anything wrong as far as I'm concerned John and agree with all of the above.

I agree with Jim - the light and the subtle colors are spectacular. My only wish would be for a little more room at the bottom.

White birds are my nemesis! Brilliant job exposing him and the light is breath-taking. I'm usually not a fan of boxy crops and with that said I think a little more canvas on the bottom wouldn't have heart. Beautiful image.

What a lovely dynamic range of colors and smooth light. Excellent eye contact and head turn. I would love to see a little more room at the bottom.

I can't wait to put my hands on a 50D!

    Thanks!

Very nice. The pastels of this image go together very well. The fine detail in the body/wings make him seem like he's glowing from within.

Way to get close! I agree with a little more room at the bottom.

Many thanks for all the great comments and compliments. I'll have to bring in the lower part of another image to give more room at the bottom, which I agree the image needs. I'll try that.
