    Default White Pelican Landing...

Another shot from our afternoon in Sebastian with the White Pelicans. Not sure what the "preferred" wing position is for a landing shot, but I thought this was a pretty sweet display.

Curious to hear your impressions, esp. regarding the pose and crop.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with it, but if I had to do it over I'd probably try some fill light in ACR to whiten up the bird rather than the Shadow Highlights tool I used here. I'm not sure where the slight pink cast is coming from in the image as I view it in Firefox... it's not there in Photoshop. Grrr!

Oh, and this is the first time I've really tried to expand the canvas with quick mask and clone tools. Worked pretty well, I think.

You nailed this one Dan - the wing position creates great impact and good exposue for white plumage, but I find the water a bit bright on my monitor.

I'd be very happy with the image and your crop Dan.

I like both pose and crop. The light really helped keeping the details in the shadows and highlights. It would be interesting to see an image photographed from a lower angle.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I'm glad you liked it!

Axel - I would like to see it from a lower angle as well. We were standing on a sea wall about 5 feet above the water line. I could have (should have) gotten the camera lower for more of the shots. I have some taken lower and farther out that may work better in that regard.
