Went to Fishers Green, Lea Valley Regional Park, Herts, UK. Saturday and finally unexpectedly got this image of a Bittern. What do you think ?

On my display the light area at the top of the frame seems to severely detract from an otherwise nice image. Without that light area you could brighten the image a bit more perhaps it seems to me.
I like the wing lit but I would love to see it with a little flash to bring some details out.
I love the mod created by the weather and the translucent wing. It could be a little lighter in the body and face, selecting that part of the bird with the selection tool of your choice and making a curves adjustment. Nice capture!
Thanks for the feedback. Here is edit number 2 of the image
Fingers crossed I am going in the right direction :)
The light area UL fooled the meter into undexposing the bird. A SH/H adjustment should help open up the dark tones. Wonderful find and I love the backlight on the far wing. The bird is flying a bit away from you. Towards you is to be preferred.
p: Just saw the repost which is better but still a very tough lighting condition... And the bird is still flying away

Thanks for your feedback. I was photographing a Black Headed Gull in flight when this fella flew out of the reed bed, I had to quickly adjust and pan as he flew across in front of me. Our birds here in the UK are camera shy, not like those posers in Florida ;)
All advise is gratefully received :)
Hey Pete, I have been doing this a while so I know the drill. Even in FLA unexpectd stuff happens quickly.... You did your best, it was pretty good, and you are open to learning. Couldn't be better.

Thanks, my previous post was an attempt at a bit of humour... :o
I reckon if I had been waiting for a Bittern he would never have popped out of the reeds....
Lovely repost, Pete, that's exactly what I meant.
Great opportunity and you certainly made the most of it - a very nice 'atmospheric' image in the re-post.
