Holy Molly, every one I've seen was short upwards at a steep angle. And you didn't. Congrats !!

Great capture. I would probably crop the negative space in half on the right-hand-side. What a stare! Fabulous! :)

An additional round of USM would really make this image shine. Was this originally a little underexposed?...I say this because I see a little amount of colour noise on the owl's body. Don't be afraid to use your 40D beyond ISO 400...it can take it ;-) Still a wonderful photo, great eye level angle - and the NHO gave you a studio-like pose

Great one, love the pose, low angle, detail and BG, I also see some noise in the Owl and very little in the BG too. I would´ve also tried a bit more saturation, but love it as presented! Congratulaitons!

Great angle, pose, eye contact and BG. Just more sharpening of the bird and NR on the BG.

Love these owls. Never get tired of seeing them. It's all been said. Might add that an adjustment layer could be used: curves incorporated to introduce more contrast. Image looks a little flat. More owls, please. ;-)

Just another round of noise reduction to the BG. The intense stare of the eyes is amazing and I like a lot the sweet green BG.:-)

Lovely image. I like the eye contact. Bit of more sharpening would be effective.
