Hi Gus Glad you had a good time at Shark Valley !!!

These feeding image are really tough since focusing is at a premium with lots of luck !!! I would like seeing both the bird and fish razor sharp and the fish facing the camera with a good head angle .... don't want much :) ... but its is possible if you get enough of them.

The secret seems to be moving around and trying to get one with the fish in the right plane .. frustrating. I like the composition and the fish has a good pose. Will have to visit there soon !!!!

Hope you guys can figure how to improve ... not an easy one but very doable !!!!:)

Hi, I really like this ¨Image to work¨ threads as the are very educational, so if I may, here´s my version.

I basicaly warmed up the color balance a bit, and clean up the BG dark areas and nise by using NS and little Gaussian Blur.
Then I toned down the whole Heron as it looked a bit overexposed, I have also lighten the fish so to get more detail on it with S&H.
Some USM and very little noise reduction to the whole flatten image and that´s preety much it. Hope you like it.

I am sorry I cloned out the signature :o

I decided to convert it to b&w using nik silver efex pro. Also sharpen the eye and burned some of the wing.
Just wanted to see it a little different.
    BTW, sorry about your signature

    I like what I'm seeing...:)
Ramon, your enhancements are very good...I like what you did with the blending of the hues in the background and the lightening of the blacks on the catfish...
Mr. O, I like the monochrome perspective that you introduced to the image...a different point of view...well done:cool:

Keep them coming, don't be shy...:D There are still many possibilities to explore...

Gus, You gave us a tough one. I had a real tough time making sense out of the whites in behind the eye. Nothing special, pretty much as given in ABPII. I did try for a little extra black, and did sharpen twice, just at slightly lower settings. Also, for some reason Topaz Denoise would not work and not sure if CS3 did either. How's my colors? Any color Cast? Dave

ok here goes first i did a threshold to find the black and white points. second i did a curve adjustment to the black point on one layer and then a curve adjustment for the white point on another layer
third i did a quick levels adjustment to bring back some depth to the darks. fourth I ran a Viveza to bring out the eye and bill along with the brown feathers in all about 5 control points

I then ran a Noise reduction on the BG.
then selectively sharpened the eye and feathers

Then did a screen adjustmentt blend duplicate layer filled with black and painted with white to bring out some details in the fish

Just viewing the work. Nice job guys. The BG looks almost painted in a way.
