I was blessed with incredible light when I found this fellow.
Unfortunately oystercatchers are hard to get separated from the rocks, so I am wishing for the other foot and less rocks in the bg.--but I was happy to get this far with this species.

I like the walking pose, details and eye contact. It would have been great to see both legs entirely but this really seems hard in this setting. I also wish for a bit more head turn toward you.
Agree with Axel about the head turn and also with you with your own critique about the rocks, but this is still a wonderfull shot, full of great thing as light, exposure, colors, detail and Bg. I know that the legs a very light but I would tone them down a bit. Congratualitons!
I love this bird in its environment. Well exposed and soft background. You could crop out some of the bottom (half of the blurred rocks) and burn the other rocks. The bird would stand out even more.
