    Default Red-tailed Hawk

    Hamilton Mountain, Ontario, Canada

    Nikon D200 ,Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S VR
    1/90s f/4.0 at 400.0mm iso200

hand held from truck, passenger seat rest, no flash, 90% of full frame

Too bad about the background, but I was happy with the pose, and detail with this shot of a very friendly bird.

You nailed the exposure and got some killer detail in this image. Not easy in this light.

I agree with Mike, the exposure looks very good considering the difficult circumstances. The light BG doesn't bother me.

A "friendly" red-tail? Wow! Just look at one of ours and they take off.....nice image!

Lovely Raymond - I like that white background - it works well for me with this image. Lovely composition

The BG doesn't bother me too much, either. A beautifully exposed image, good comp and focus.

Great image Raymond. While all others commented felt the composition was good (which it is), I wondered whether there was too much BG in the upper right quadrant and a little cropping from the right of the frame would be better.

Great compsosition. The head is at a PP and looking into the frame.. Excellent technicals considering the tough light. Well done...
