I took this the photo of this clapper rail munching down on a crayfish. The image has been cropped to eliminate the reeds in the foreground. However, There is still some distracting reeds up front. I would like suggestions on how to improve the photo.
Tough with that bg Jim but what a catch !!! Don't see that very often !!!
To make it a little better you would probably have to go into PS make a layer and multiply then brush away the part you don't want, just keep the effect on the whites. Could do twice.
Another which might be easier is using PhotMatx and made a pseudo HDR. Program will do it all, the only requirement it has to be in 16 bit !! At times it works. Another work around is a double conversion from RAW ... one regular one linear then sandwich together. All you will accomplish is getting more natural looking whites.
As is its a good record image and on I would keep !!
Hi Jim I was going to do the PhotoMatic but don't have it in my laptop. Wednesday the desktop will be up and running, sorry. If anyone has the program please give a try, I'm curious to see if it works !!!
Hi James,
A few points to cover here...The out of focus white blotches in the foreground are a bit distracting besides the fact that they are running on the hot side...the background is hot pushing the envelope at 255..and there is allot of noise in the background...I do like the stretched down pose and the eye contact. the head angle is also good...I modified your image by cropping into a pano, to place all of the attention on your subject. I toned down the whites, ran noise reduction and adjusted the mid-tones; increased the contrast and saturation very slightly and selective sharpened the eye...see if this presents best to you...
