    Default The Hunter

From Thursday at Salisbury, MA in the late afternoon. Using my best bird finding skill - "hey, look there are folks with binoculars looking at a tree" I "found" this Sharp-shinned Hawk in the campground. 1DMK3 on 500 f4 hand held at iso 400, 1/1250 at f7.1, manual exposure, AIservo. - Bob

I like your bird-finding 'technique'. :) Great details and fanned tail, I would give it a bit more room.

This is very nice Bob I think you should clone in some more canvas to the right side taking away the squarish composition. The details in the Hawk look outstanding.

Great timing Bob, your bird finding technique worked out great for me when I was at Salisbury last weekend - it got us a snowy just after sunset that was about a quarter mile away, not photos but a great scope view.
Here is a quick edit I did of your shot: Cloned out the big stick and added in some more pine, then QM'd the tree and gave it a gaussian blur... and some more room on the top and right

Repost is very nice, but the OP was fine by me, I wold've only added more room to the right. Great timing, cool pose, nice detail, light and ambient. Congratulaitons!

I have found lots of great photographic subjects by finding out what other birders or photographers are looking at; it is a great technique.

I love the wing position and the intense look of the bird. Great work on the repost by Doug.
