Just a quick adjust. Did a colour correction. Moved the heron to the left with content aware. Keep the bush in the URC. Added canvas on the bottom with clone stamp. Cropped to pano.
Took the cyan out of the cyan with selective colour at -100 percent.
Hi Jackie will see what everyone comes up with Those blues look a little funky? :)
Mr. Forns,
I will respectfully step down and let our brothers and sisters do the corrections; I will be posting my "To Work" assignment later on this evening...
Hi Al:
Mines a bit more conventional, ha ha
Before taking it for a flight over the lake using a Java applet, I . . .
Took to Image>Adjustment>Exposure>-0.10, -0.031, 1.0
Then selective color, using blue, backed off yellows, and added a couple of points black
Then Images>Adjustment>curves>Preset>Linear Contrast
Took it to Front Page, and laked it>Saved>Opened with water rippling>Captured it with HprSnap>Saved
Opened in CS4, added 200 pixels to canvas>used content aware to expand width of photo>Applied>Cropped behind bird>duplicated adding canvas again & CA>Cropped to finished size. Photo degraded slightly from water spray in lake, so gave it final pass of curves with Linear Contast preset . . .Slight tad selective eye sharpened
Uncle Gus getting ready now for the Wildcats . . Yea Wildcats!!
Looks like your read Gus !!! I like the effect and and the PS work not bad :)
Very good Uncle Gus...I like it...
My Turn
Expanded canvas right and bottom. Chose the green channel and selected the bird, used saturation, separate colors, then contrast..Inverted to the sky and saturated a bit. Used selective color on the whole image and lightly sharpened.
Sorry I didn't pay attention to the numbers used, my bad
I decided to go for an old time feel for this.
Cropped putting heron to the right like it's flying out of the picture. Converted to sepia using channel mixer and hue/saturation layer. Added a bit of noise. Put in a vignette.
I like the idea of converting it to b&w, the tone and the noise. Overall the bird looks kind of dark on my monitor though. Also I'm not sure about leaving more room behind the bird than in front of it. I did see photos that are kind of breaking all the "room" rules just to create some kind of tension in the photo, some uneasy feeling in the viewers. Perhaps that's your artistic decision, too?
Mr Gus and Al - likewise - I will post mine tomorrow.
I like seeing all the versions and some i would have thought about !!!!! The processing Nonda did is very close to what I would have done, just tweaking the original without mayor changes..... btw DC were lots of fun :)
I prefer Nonda's -her wing colors and BG look the most natural.
Nonda's is my favorite. My 2 cents worth.
Here´s mine :)
I like it Ramon More intense but still realistic A good alternative
What did you do?
I recomposed by creating a new layer of the upper BG and moved it to the lower side of the frame, I then created a new layer of the Heron and moved this last one to the upper left side of the frame, once this was done I cloned out the plants relfections, then some USM, NR and a bit of saturation, I have also removed the wing tip behind the heron. Glad you liked it Al!
Nice Ramon! Like what you did with the clouds
Another vote for Ramon's ! To me it has the right colors, the right contrast and the right sharpness.
This little heron looked like it needed a change. Uncle Gus might be on the right track. In fact, I thought of having the little guy upside down.. The usual work flow up to the end, straight from ABPII, then I used Topaz Adjust to Photo Pop, and then three or 4 times of Topaz Simplify and Denoise. If nothing else, in my version bird is flying over clouds and not water. Dave
Like the Topaz . . . more like HDR, is it difficult to do? Seems to be clearer and have more punch than I could get using photomatic for HDR . . .
Uncle Gus
Hi Uncle Gus, No Topaz Adjust is very easy to use. basically it is hit a button and an effect happens. There are several different "actions" you can choose from. I always use it on a layer copy and if I don't like it, I delete.
Kind of the lazy way to do things. Dave
