Stand out photo Linda. Really like the colors and details. May be a bit over sharpened but I like it as presented. The only suggestion I would have is to clone out some of the bits of grey in bg and abit of ccw perhaps.. Really like the reflection. Dave

    Hi Linda,
I like the composition, image and capture...:)you have sharp details with a good head angle and sharp clear eye. I like the semi high key look to the background...I would have liked to have seen a much lower capture angle...I see some dirty spots in the water, and I see some noise....I modified your base image to illustrate a few points...I cropped from the top and a little from the right side of your frame. I cleaned up the water and ran noise reduction in the background. I adjusted the mid-tones and boosted the saturation and contrast just a tad...selective sharpened and lightened the eye...see if this presents best to you...

Hi Linda - agree with gus on the techs - and dave on the original does look oversharpened. sharpening is easy to overdo - do use it sparingly - I think there are some articles in the educational resources forum in regards to sharpening - well worth a read.

Now for the fun part - a lower capture angle - the water doesn't look very deep = go on lay down in it - you know you wantto LOL :) Seriously though it will make a huge difference and transform your photos fom good to great.
Looking forward to the next one :)

Thanks for the help. I am sharpening in Lightroom 2 and then I am sharpening to put on web. I guess that is too much.

Linda, love what Gus has done in the repost it brings out the colours in the bird so nicely. Nice comp and just a little sharp in the original.
