This is my first post in this section. It is not the typical Gerenuk, feeding while standing on it's hind legs image, but I liked the way it displayed their delicate facial features. This image is several years old and was scanned from a slide, so no data was saved. All critique is solicited, I'm here to learn.

This is an animal that I have always wanted to see, but we do not get up to East Africa very often. Tthe colours and contrast seem a little harsh, but it certainly shows the beauty of it's face.
I now have to consider when I can get to Kenya!

Thanks Ken. I have taken your suggestions and find the resulting image improved. The original capture was quite saturated and my scan is from an old, early scanner. Just goes to show, both technology and skill improve with time. Have a great trip. Many Thanks. John

    John,
It is nice to see a different view than the regular ones. The Gerenuk pops up better due to the clean background. I agree with you regarding technology. A scan with drum scanner will be better. The digital files are so much better.

    Cheers,

Those eyes are t dye for, innocence is painted all ovetr them. Tight compo, but efficient, green adds a very nice touch.

Hi John and welcome to the forum. I think the pose and slight downwards look really adds to the allure of this image. All I would have liked to see would be him moved to the right about 6 inches so the face cleared the bush.

John, I really like the pose and the composition. The contrast seems harsh, but I haven't been very pleased with many of my own slide conversions. Lovely.
