Very well done Dave. The black birds are a real challenge and you did a great job of bringing out the details in the blacks. Super job with the 400/5.6. Did you use a tripod for this shot? I like the way the tail compliments the perch.
Excellent detail on the plumage. It's a tough light situation and you did great.
I wish the white specks on the beak and plumage were not present,
obviously out of your control. Could it be corrected in PS?
Great bird, perch, image design, and killer detail in the blacks. You gotta love white skies with black birds. If it is OK with your personal ethics, you could eliminate the various specks--there are probably more than 20 in all.

Hi Dave,
I like the composition, image and capture...you have sharp details...good head angle and sharp eye contact...the color rendition on your subject is superb...good show...
Thanks everyone for comments. Does look like the little guys was out on a concrete pouring crew and got splattered. I had not thought of removing them to be honest although if only a few I have done so in the past.
Kerry, unless it is a BIF, I am almost always using a tripod with the 400mm. I broke down last year and bought a vg quality Gitzo and for me it made a big difference.
Dave .
