    Default Garter Snake (baby)

I was in a park preserve setting up for some bird photography when I heard some rustling on the ground. I looked down and found this guy in and amongst the leaves. I naturally started "working" with him to get an image in that environment and after due diligence I came away with this. :)

Hi Mike. I'm guessing that this photo was not taken recently in MN. :) I like the selective sharpness, the colors, and the way the head-shadow is part of the comp. The shadow and the snake's body lead your eye through the frame. You might add a bit or room on the left, if you have it, so that the snake's OOF body (or virtual body) does not touch the frame edge.

Agree with Steve on the little room at left if you have it Might also take a little from the bottom.

I love this image and find snakes very difficult to compose, the selective focus is just great. Excellent bg and framing !!!!

Agree with the left for more room and less on bottom. Nice work on the curve of the body and its continuation into the shadow. Focus on head just right.
