Very clean and simple but I think the branch on the left is a bit over-powering.

Nice to see a House sparrow. What works: the BG is a plus; the over-all exposure of bird is clean, good reslution and clarity; texture in perch. Suggestions: both perches are emerging from the bottom of the frame with no sense of origin and lead the eye off of the page, especially the larger one; the bird is looking off frame to the right and the interest is in that direction. So, either remove the larger branch and crop in from left; or add some canvas to the right and go for even wider landscape crop. ;-)

Nice work John, great perch and nice detail. House Sparrows are proper little characters which are sadly in decline, I'm in the process of getting a sparrow terrace built and fitted to help out my local flock....

    Nice work.

Very nice shot of the sparrow but I would remove the branch that is behind and to the left of the bird.

Good pose, eye contact and detail about the head. With that shutter speed, perhaps you could have gone for a bit more DOF.

I like the perch, BG and details and only wish the tail were not behind the perch.

If theses branches have been picked up and placed as a set-up near a feeder I would suggest a small pruning job to help prevent branches competing against one another (and against your subjects). For example If you prune the top one away you can still set it up further as a secondary (and unobstructive)option for your subjects. I do like the image though...very clean and well presented.

I really like this... great exposure and tones to this one. I like the overall composition too, and the perch looks very natural and adds a lot of interest to the image.
