There was a male Scaup in this picture, but I cropped him out (was not focused very well) losing quite a bit of the original picture area. i used some clarity and contrast and sharpening in Lightroom. I did not run noise. Any problem there? Is the crop OK -- are the gals "stacked" too distinctly? Should I have included the shadow?

    Hi Wendell,
I do like the composition, you do need to run noise reduction in the background, and lighten the face area and eye of the duck in the background...the color rendition is good...

Nice capture! I like the "Doublemint" composition. :D Might be worth adjusting levels a bit. I'm seeing a yellowish cast.

Gus and David: Your critiques are right on, and an improvement. I will "correct" my copy accordingly . . . thanks . . . (I'm glad the composition is OK) . . .

    Great re post !!!

Was wondering about the original and zero comp? Might want to look at the histogram should be a bit under !!!
I like the two bird composition, do find them difficult to do and this is fine. Difficult to have both in focus so always go for the front bird !!!

Denise, Katie and Alfred, thanks for looking. Yes, Alfred, the original's histogram shows a "bit under" (if I understand that correctly). The information is bunched up on the left . . .

I'm nuts or missing something, like the original or the repost?

Like your Scaups Wendell! Really nice detail in the feathers.

Great color work on the repost by Dave. Thanks for that sir. As for the COMP, it is OK but ideally the rear bird would be offset a bit to our right.... That is the classic juxtaposition COMP.
