    Default Bosque Fly In

Most photographers, including me, will photograph sunset at the Bosque from the west side of the Refuge. But when there were no clouds to make those nice reflections in the pools, I headed for the east side. Snow Geese returning to the water for the night.

I think the lighting is awesome in this image. It would probably look as good without any bird in there too. :)

The colors of the hills in the BG are excellent, great idea. I wouldn't mind if there were a few more birds in the lower left.

    David....

I really, really like this one for the colors, the mountain backdrop and the mood.

I might try one little change however.

I hit it with a laittle contrast sharpening at 12/201/0, then faded it a bit and I kinda liked it.

If I wasn't going out the door I'd have posted it!

    David,

I really like the color transitions, and I appreciate the deviation from the norm. I wish I could convince myself to do it more often.

As was mentioned nice colors. I like the extra detail in the birds this perspective provides.

Very sweet. Love the atmosperhic perspective with the hills. Where were you? I would guess just past the Coyote and Willows Decks--never sure which one is the northernmost?

    What date?

Taken Jan 10 from the Coyote Deck, which is the northern most deck on the east side.

Thanks David. My guess was a pretty good one... Were the birds leaving the pond to your right or flying into it? (Or was there a pond to your left? They move the water around quite a bit.)

David this is an OUTSTANDING image in my opinón. Love the way in which colours go from light, at the left, to dark, at the right, the three horizontal bands of colous of the BG and the fact that some geese are dark silouetes while others keep a lot of details. Superb job here

The birds were leaving the pond just to our right (sunset to our left), and heading for other water. There was a massive amount of geese in the pond, and it kept filling right up until the sun set, when the flock exploded.

    David,
I like this image for the colours and the mood. At times we get some good ones trying a different approach. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi
