    Default Me and my Shadow

This was taken right about noon, with lots of sun, looking down from a pier. I thought I was done for the morning but then I saw the shadows and reflections of these seagulls on the beach so I played around to see what I could come up with. The bg here is actually sand reflecting the blue of the sky. Does it work?

C&C always appreciated and thank you for looking.

Excellent composition, image and capture Katie...very, very nice...:)
The details are nice and sharp and the color rendition is superb...I like the flight angle and the wing position, the head angle and sharp eye contact are dead on...the shadow is fantastic...the title really does it justice...proud of you Katie...congrats...:)

Thank you, Gus. I quite liked it myself but was second-guessing it's merits.

Very clever Katie you made soup out of a rock !!!! Not much chance for an image at that time but you did come up with a good one !!!! Very creative !!

Might darken the shadow a bit and next time you encounter the same situation do make lots of them so you will have one with perfect wing position on both bird and shadow !!! Big Congrats !!!

Nice capture of a Heermann's gull. They are quite exquisite.
Interesting composition with the shadow, and I'm amazed by the blue sand.
    Well done

    Hi Katie:

"Does it work?" A resounding big "YES"! The capture is very well executed with the seagull alone, I like the position, exposure, and it's tack sharp! The shadow is serendipity, and adds icing to the cake . . . you went for it, and came up in diamonds!

    Well done, Young Lady.

Many thanks for sharing your winner with us.
