Like the crop, wing and eye position, and nest-building behavior. Very sharp too. The darks are a little underexposed; I probably would have gone with +1 EC shooting the underside of an eagle against the sky.

No problem Gary. The whites look a little underexposed as posted. When I'm photographing birds with a mix of darks and whites (bald eagles, stilts, etc.) I usually will overexpose by 1/3 to 2/3 of a stop using my Mark III. I get more detail in the darks and am able to easily bring the whites back in Lightroom.

I like the wing position and the nesting material adds to it. On my 1D3 I sometimes get blinkies but if I open the image in ACR, the histogram looks fine. I agree with Doug the underwing area looks a bit noisy.

Great timing Gary and I love the wing postion in this capture. Excellent eye contact and as mentioned a little more feather detail would be nice . Congratulations on a lovely image.
