Not sure what kind of bird this is (anyone know?) but in the midst of our current ice storm, he just seemed to be calling his friends to a meal. 1/160, f 5.6, aperture priority, 300 mm iso200. Nikon D40X

    Hi Hazel,
I like the capture...this little fellow sure does have food for the rest of the year...:D
Suggestions: I would consider doing this in a vertical or cropping 1/4 from the bottom and a tad from the right side to make the subject bigger in frame...the image looks a little on the flat side...recommend on boosting the saturation and contrast level a little. also would open up the mid-tones, and lighten the area around the bird's eye and face and selective sharpen...nice catch...looking forward to more...

Certainly looks like a Junco Hazel. They seem to show up at my feeder Sept 1 and leave May1, like clock work. Good ideas from Gus. Dave

Hi Hazel - definetly a cute bird, you might also want to keep a eye on your ISO and shutter speed, for this you were at 160th at 300mm - generally speaking you would like your minimum shutter speed to be 1/300th at 300mm. Bump up your ISO to 400 and you would have been at 1/320th will just help you get sharper images.
    looking forward to more :)
