Which brand of memory card?

The question is simple. Which memory card brand do you think is the best on the market or in other words which you think the more reliable?

For Canon is best to stay away from the Lexar cards They seem to have the highest problem ratio Has to do with the WA technology Would recommend Sandisk

For Nikon the Lexars work well

I have not had many problems with Cards I know at the start of digital it was a issue and most would not use the very large capacity cards I use 12 GIG cards and would not hesitate using larger !!!

I have used Lexar, Sandisk, and Kingston. Most of my larger cards are Sandisk. I have never had any problem with any of my cards.

I use Sandisk and never had a problem. I have heard stories that for Canon, Sandisk work best while Lexar works great in Nikon.

I think the only thing to be careful is using Lexar in Canon !!

I'm shooting Nikon, and I really like SanDisk memory. Cost effective and pretty reliable. The classic SanDisk 2GB Ultra II has been one of my favorite smaller work-horse cards.

I've been using Lexar, Delkin, and Sandisk in Canon for four years (I know, I know, Lexar is evil--I always catch flak for it).

However, I've had Sandisk cards do weird things in my 1D2n on the same frequency as Lexar: about once every two months. And I haven't lost any images, instead I get the wonderful yellow question mark in place of a review image on the rear screen.

Just hesitating between SanDisk Extreme IV CompactFlash 8GB card for $249.99 and SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash 16GB for $399.99. At the moment I have only a 2!!!GB SanDisk CF card :eek:

My experience could be the exception that proves the rule, but I've used Lexar cards with Canon for 6 years (D30, 1D, 1DMkII, 5D) without problems. Sandisks have been trouble-free, too (touching wood here).

Can anyone point us to firm evidence of Lexar cards performing poorly in Canon bodies?

However, my understanding is that the Lexar card issue is not an issue with the Mark III or the 1D Mark IIn cameras.

I have been using Delkin Cards since the get-go. Have used the 4gb and 8gb cards for the past three years without a single corrupted card. I believe that they are #3 in the world in sales and they didn't even make the survey...

I used Lexar years ago and had a card go bad---the warranty service from Lexar was not good. I had a brand new card DOA from Sandisk a few years back--their service was good.

Should have added that I have been using the Delkin e-film pro cards for more than a year with zero problems. Whatever brand you purchase there is a chance that you might get a bad card no matter who endorses them :) That said, Delkin stands behind its stuff and will replace any problem that gives you a problem. I have been using Delkin for all of digital and have never lost a single image in the ten years due to card failure.

Touch wood (!) the only cards I ever had problems with were Lexar. And their replacement process was long and involved (outside US). Apparently with SanDisk you can just walk in and get a replacement - which I have never had to do.

So I stay with SanDisk. I currently use SanDisk Extreme Pro - with Canon 7D.

I am using Lexar Professional 333X and 400x in my Nikon with great results.
I have one older Sandisk Extreme 3 it worked fine with my old D70s but occasionally isn't recognized by the D200. Reformatting usually fixes it. I keep it as a back up.

Has anyone used the very fast and pricey Hoodman 666x cards?

At the suggestion of several folks, I switched from 4GB and 8GB Sandisk Extreme III's to Transcend 600x 8GB cards... I love them! They appear to be much faster with my 7D and there's never been an issue wth the RAW buffer filling whereas I did have several episodes with the Sandisk cards.

I've been using CF Transcend as well and have yet to have a problem over the past 3-4 years. I had one SD Transcend card that went bad and was replaced without hassle.

Does it really matter what brand card we use? (showing my ignorance) My understanding with SS Hard drives is that there are issues with longevity.

The same SanDisk Extreme III 4GB have worked fine for several years with my Nikon. I recently bought two Lexar 8GB 400x CFs because B&H was (is) selling them for $45 each (they are so last year). I see folks commenting on Lexar's reputation for warranty returns -- I have no first hand knowledge of such things, but I regard these as consumable items. If I get a few years out of them I'm happy. On the SanDisk side I do recall they were somewhat rebate-challanged, to put it politely.
