    Hi Fabio,
I like the fact that the bird is out in the clear...a few points to think about...the subject is too centered in frame; the image is under exposed and the bird is a tad on the soft side. The light is coming in from the ten o'clock position, illuminating the head and bill section, and casting a shadow on the rest of the body. In situations like these, your best option would be fill flash. You need to adjust the mid-tones and lighten the area around the eye. the focus point is not on the eye...it's a little out of focus, I would suggest on cloning out the thick branch thats going through the tail section. Your head angle and eye contact are off. the bird should be looking at you...also you need to desaturate the red; adjust the red chanel...that head is over cooked...also might want to post at a higher resolution...looking forward to your next capture...

Hi Fabio - what a cool looking bird, Gus has the techs nailed.
Something else I did notice was that you are using spot metering, personally I use Matrix metering - I do have a very good understanding of the zone system and spot metering but find matrix much easier to work with at least as far as birds are concerned (95% of the time anyway)

Looking forward to your next one.

Hi Fabio. Nice bird! Gus has given you a lot to think about here and I would like to add some specific comments about the 50D. I shoot with this camera also and find that the images from the camera need some pretty aggressive sharpening. Canon has traditionally kept the sharpening very low in the camera and the 50D seems to have even softer images than the others. I shoot using the "standard" setting, which has the sharpness at 3 in the camera, and find that the images require some significant help in PP. Keep up the good shooting, and we look forward to more!

Good point on the spot metering Also used anything but .... maybe to meter snow !!!

Would like to see a little bigger for easier evaluation !!! Good critique by Gus !!

Thanks for the comments. A lot to learn ! This one the flash was off. I am using Lightroom. Any suggestion of a "default sharpening" for the 50D and the Bigma ? Canon suggests a USM (Photoshop) of 300% / 0.3 / 0 to compensate for the AA filter in a white paper.

I use mostly RAW and I think i overprocessed this image. Thanks again.
