Wakodahatchee was packed to capacity on Sunday and the herons were giving us action. The boy made a bunch of trips bring the branches to his gal. This was one of the better branches he brought her.

I had too much lens even at 400 so cropped in closer to emphasize the behavior.
Lovely interaction and the backlight really accentuates the centre of interest at the bills and branch. Seems to be a significant blue cast on the shaded side - not sure if this is partially the colour of the birds but I'm assuming the pale areas of the face are white. I think your idea of cropping in is good - I would crop a little more from the right. Darkening down some of the pale OOF area in the URC may help focus in more on the action.
Good timing and interaction and the backlight on the bird's faces works well. The bright (burned) twigs between them and the o-o-f wing between us and the sharp action do not.
