The banding guys seem to have gone a little overboard with this sooty oystercatcher.

A very nice capture and composition Mr. Peters,
I like the head angle and sharp eye contact. the details in the blacks are dead on...well composed and executed...good show...

What do the different colored bands stand for?:)

Hi Gus - the silver band has the birds unique ID number - only readable should the bird be re captured or the band retrieved after the bird has passed. The coloured bands and the combination of colours also helps indentify the bird from afar.

    Hi Lance:

Another beauty for the wall. I know it's the photographer, however, it is great advertising for Nikon if the are hung up in your shop.

    A very Snooty Sooty . . . I absolutely love it.

    Many thanks for sharing
